Hi my name is Samantha and this is my story. I was struggling to pay my bills and stay sober. I was working part-time at Papa Murphy’s and in a hopeless situation, which eventually led to me sleeping in my car. I heard about a place called Compass and reached out. I spoke with a lady named Jan at Compass and scheduled a meeting and that’s when everything began to change.

I landed a job at Cardinal Glass with Jan’s help and resources. She knew just where to go and although I was only there for 3 months due to it being temporary, that job paid enough and provided me with full-time hours. I was able to pay off all of my debts.

Quickly after that job ended, I found another job with help from Compass that paid me even more and eventually allowed me to look for my own place. Jan was patient with me every step of the way. She went out of her way to search out apartments for me, calling around and explaining some of my situation to landlords in the area. Eventually we were successful in finding a one bedroom that accepted my credit score and resident history.

Walking in to Compass almost a year ago has changed my life so much. I have been at my current job for 6 months and in my new home about 3. I make sure to pay my rent on time and Jan is still there to help with any retention that is needed. Thankfully, I found the desire in me to reach out for help and thankfully, someone was there to see my pain and work with me.
